Client: Majlis of New York — upscale halal hookah lounge & Mediterranean restaurant in Queens, NY. majlisofny.com+1
My Role: Web Developer + Content & Local SEO Specialist
Time Frame: (almost 6 months)
Majlis of New York needed a modern, visually appealing website to showcase its unique offering: premium hookah lounge experience combined with high-end halal Mediterranean cuisine. The website had to reflect the brand’s ambiance, service variety, and location-based appeal in Queens/Bellerose.
Key challenges to address:
Conveying both lounge/hookah services and restaurant food services clearly and attractively.
Highlighting the halal dining offering alongside the upscale ambiance and international influences. (Site mentions: “100% Halal”, “premium hookah”, “cross-cultural Southern European cooking”) majlisofny.com
Enhancing local visibility (Queens / Bellerose, NY) and making it easy for visitors to view menu, reserve tables, and contact the business.
Integrating strong conversion points: reservations, contact info, online ordering (via Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub) for takeaway/delivery. majlisofny.com+1
To meet these needs, I:
Developed a dynamic, responsive website with a visual focus that aligns with the lounge’s upscale, social vibe.
Structured the site with dedicated sections/pages: About Us (brand story), Menu, Hookah Experience, Events/Reservations, Delivery/Ordering.
Crafted content emphasising key differentiators: “100% Halal”, “Premium Hookah Lounge”, “Mediterranean cuisine in New York”, location address and phone number. majlisofny.com+1
Optimised local SEO: included service keywords and location (e.g., “hookah lounge Queens”, “halal Mediterranean Queens NY”, “Majlis Bellerose NY”), set up contact and reservation info clearly.
Integrated/linked to online ordering platforms (Uber Eats / DoorDash / Grubhub) in the site’s call-to-action to facilitate immediate action. majlisofny.com
The website now effectively positions Majlis of New York as both a premium hookah lounge and a halal Mediterranean restaurant in Queens, with a clear brand story and service offering.
Visitors can quickly find menu, ordering options, location and reservation details — reducing friction for conversions (bookings, orders).
Improved local search alignment and clarity of offering increases the website’s potential to attract local foot-traffic and online orders.
Conclusion:
This project demonstrates how combining visual design, targeted content and local SEO can elevate a hospitality brand’s online presence — making it more compelling, discoverable and conversion-friendly.
